It seems, with the whole crafting movement, there comes the whole environmental factor, and a movement towards textile jewelery... My foray into finger knitting began with the search of the perfect thread/cord to use with my 'kimono fabric necklace', another venture into textile jewelery. What turned out not to be suitable, I searched for alternative methods to use the cord. It seems there is a whole world of crochet, macrame / micro macrame or Chinese or Celtic knotting techniques. I settled on finger knitting / macrame, for it's simple yet effective look. I started with the satin cord which is slightly thicker and richer, then tried out the waxed cotton cord which is a fun and light and very summery, but which can look quite sophisticated when multiple strands are used. They come in a multitude of colours, which makes it fun to make, but also caters for different peoples taste and complexions, and because they're textile, they are light and don't irritate the skin.
